I'll Do This For Free

Enjoying the event at Cacaway Island, Langford Creek.  Seriously....I'll do this for free.

Hello Big Run,

Well, you must have been there awhile. We anchored (rafted with another sailboat) at Cacaway Island on Saturday evening, June 26. Took a picture of Big Run and while editing my photos thought it was a Kadey-Krogen. Did a web search and found your blog.

Lots of past blogs, but any summary page on your retirement plans, Big Run, equipment, what you are doing to prep her, planned routes.

Keep up your blog - lots of luck!

Hello Bob

Yes, we are both retired and have no set plans other than to cruise down the ditch this fall and return north in the spring to continue on to the Canadian Maritimes. Although we are not a sailboat we will let the "winds" carry us after that. We have been upgrading most of the systems with an emphasis on safety features. Our stay at Cacaway Island was a work week, working on the brightwork.

Thanks for the comments/inquiry

Are you going to the do the 'Great Loop"?

We may be sailors now, but the places/cruising we want to do in a few years are pointing to a trawler.

Looking forward to more blogs on your Alaska ambitions, more specifics on Big RUn upgrades, etc. Retirement is not that far off for us.

The Great Loop has always been very low on the list and probably out of the question now since we installed the wind generator - too high for the bridges. Once we have done the East Coast and the Caribbean, it could be onto the Panama Canal and Alaska or a jump across the pond to the Med and Greece. Who Knows? Next time you spot us, hail us on 16.
